Goals of the Volunteer Program

The motivation of volunteers and staff is our greatest resource. We rely on the daily assistance of caring, hardworking volunteers who make an enormous difference in our life-saving capacity. Our aim is to provide volunteers a range of opportunities to support the shelter and its animals in ways they feel most capable and effective.

Volunteers help connect animals with their forever homes and lower the stress levels of animals in our care. They gain hands-on experience, personal growth, and emotional satisfaction in making a difference for animals in need.

Volunteer activities include:

  • Dog socialization

  • Dog exercise

  • Dog training

  • Dog foster

  • Cat socialization

  • Cat feeding

  • Cat cage cleaning

  • Kitten fosters

  • Adoptions

  • Off-site events

  • Photography

  • Social media

  • Dishes

  • Laundry

  • Office Support

We ask our volunteers for a commitment of two service hours per week for at least six months. We also accept volunteers ages 13 to 17 under the supervision of a parent or guardian during orientation, training, and service. For the Release & Waiver of Liability Form click here.
