Getting Started

• Attend orientation by Volunteer Coordinator who will connect trainee with trainer.

• Sign up to be a YCAS volunteer.

• Train on policies and procedures (typically four to six shadow sessions).

• Sign up to work your regular shift(s).

• Join WhatsApp Mutts & Meows Pack group.

• Demonstrate proficiency for Orange and Purple Paw levels.

  • Volunteer Trainers evaluate/advance trainees from Blue to Orange Paw levels.

  • Volunteer Examiners evaluate/recommend trainees for Purple Paw testing.

  • Shelter Supervisor or Director (alternate) observe/test and advance volunteers to Purple Paw level.
