Videography Tips & Tricks
Setting: Tap the upper right corner until the option for HD 30 appears. You can make this your default setting under Settings > Camera > Record Video
Shoot constantly: again, better to have too much than not enough content
Motion picture: keep the shot moving instead of still/static (you’re not using a tripod so no reason to try to stand as still as one because it’s going to shake regardless) - better to have fluid, smooth, slow motion to keep the shot feeling dynamic
Permission/consent: if children are petting the dog, try to frame so their faces are obscured or cropped out of frame - if adults (or you get permission from parent of children), shoot away
Orientation: Vertical/portrait orientation always for reels/stories - horizontal is ONLY useful for Youtube/AdoptMe posts
Light control: Lock exposure if you’re in a space with lots of lighting changes - tap on your screen to focus, and then drag sun slider up/down to adjust exposure of the shot
Shot types:
Wide angle walking point of view
Eye contact front angle of dog walking
Pup cup from pup cup height, straight on
Engaging with objects to show curiosity (sniffing stuff)
Reaction to ducks in the arboretum (or wildlife elsewhere)
Receiving attention from general public
Walking through shops + relaxing in shops (don’t forget to showcase the shop itself nicely as well - if they look good in the content we share, they’re more likely to cross-promote it on their platforms)
Car rides, especially rear-view mirror shot if they like to stick their head out the window, and relaxing/sleeping/chilling in car
Try to get the “smiles” - toss the dog a few treats to catch, which gets its head more “upward” and excited, more likely to prompt it to open its mouth
Different body positions: sitting, laying down, mid-shaking paw, looking out in the distance, seated on ground vs seated on bench
