Schedule Your Shift
Shift structure is critical to organize and coordinate our effort. We would like to start with a minimum of two hours for weekday shifts (8-10a, 10a-12p, 12-2p, 2-4p) and three hours for weekend shifts (8-11a, 11a-1p, 1-4p) and will be ready to adjust as this shift structure evolves. Volunteers can come early or stay late, but please sign up only for the shift(s) that you will cover from start to finish.
One volunteer typically can cover six to eight dogs per shift: we need six volunteers per day to cover all dogs when the shelter is at capacity.
Set Your Schedule – New trainees should complete this form to indicate their schedule preferences.
Volunteer Scheduling
Each week, the Scheduling Lead will prepare our schedule, reach out to volunteers to fill gaps, and communicate the final lineup to the team.
If you can cover a regular shift, please let the Scheduling Lead know, and she will sign you up in the GoogleSheet each week on your behalf.
If you cannot cover a regular shift, then sign up each week by Sun 6 pm, either (1) directly in the appropriate GoogleSheet below, or (2) by communicating with the Scheduling Lead, who will enter your shift(s) to the GoogleSheet for you.
Holidays – Sign up for shifts as described above. Staff will refer to the weekly schedule to assign security clearance to volunteers. Only Purple Paw (PP) volunteers and Orange Paw volunteers paired with PPs are eligible to work.
If you cannot make a scheduled shift, try to secure a substitute, and give 24-hour notice (emergencies excluded) to the Scheduling Lead.
For additional scheduling assistance, reach out to your Volunteer Training Lead.
