Animal ID: Unique identifier for each animal

Name: Name of animal

  • If preceded by ‘*’, the name was given by shelter

  • If not, the animal came to shelter with this name

Status:

  • Available – available for adoption

  • Unavailable - unavailable for adoption; no animal photo is displayed in 24PetConnect

  • Stray Wait – prompts display of animal photo in 24PetConnect for Lost/Found Animals

  • Evaluation – requires medical/behavioral evaluation before being made available

  • Eval Pass – has passed medical/behavioral evaluation by the appropriate authority

Substatus:

  • Adopt Ready – ready for adoption

  • S/N Needed – spay/neuter surgery is needed before an adopter can take animal

  • DVM Resreq - rescue request for a veterinarian to evaluate an animal’s health issue

Hold:

  • None – animal is available for adoption.

  • Quarantine – animal is housed in a kennel area restricted to staff for a behavioral issue, bite incident, unknown/outdated rabies vaccination status or legal reasons.

  • Confiscate – confiscated due to arrest or medical; staff only on a case-by-case basis

  • NOI – notice of impound (via phone, mail or in person) for the owner to respond, after which YCAS will wait the legally required number of business days before assuming ownership of the animal

Available Date: earliest date that an animal will be considered for adoption

Intake Type:

  • Stray Field - picked up stray by an officer “in the field” (i.e., outside of shelter)

  • Stray Field Hwy - picked up stray by an officer from a highway

  • Stray Otc - brought to the office (“over the counter”) as stray

  • Confiscate Safekeep – deemed unsafe with owner in current conditions (typically in cases of eviction) but can be returned to owner

  • Confiscate Arrested – owner has been arrested but the animal can be returned to owner

  • Owner Sur Otc – surrendered by owner to the office (“over the counter”)

  • Confiscate Hospital - owner is receiving medical care that precludes care for animal

Spay/Neuter (S/N) surgery date:

  • Check the date of the animal’s S/N surgery, handle the animal gently, limit physical activity (e.g., walk vs. yard play) and keep surgical area dry and unscratched for at least five days
