Animal intake data, photos, videos, and descriptions are collected, edited, and published on websites and social media to promote the adoption of our shelter animals.

Pet Adoption Portal

Pet Adoption Portal (RescueGroups.org) is free online software that allows shelter staff and volunteers to send animal data and photos to 77 adoption websites simply by maintaining a single pet list. Because each of these websites attracts different visitors, Pet Portal enables us to maximize our reach and attract as many potential adopters as possible. Among these 77 websites, major adoption listing websites include Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet and Chewy. From 2/1/2022 through 1/31/2023, Petfinder listings of our adoptable dogs collected 41,875 views - averaging 558 views and ranging from 5 to 3,034 views per dog.

Chameleon

Chameleon software is a shelter case management system used by many animal control agencies, humane societies, SPCAs, and other animal sheltering organizations - including YCAS. Each animal profile is pulled from Chameleon to 24PetConnect and displayed on the Friends of YCAS website.

AdoptMeApp

AdoptMeApp is a simple storytelling tool that enables shelters and foster families to share the lives of their adoptable pets through social media. We take a picture, type a few words, hit a button, and the app does the rest — including adding the pet’s unique hashtag and the URL of its adoption profile. Diary widgets are embedded into the individual animal webpage of the Friends of YCAS website.

To post a video:

  • Upload video to a YouTube account.

  • Make sure the video is public.

  • Tap on ‘share’ then tap ‘copy link’.

  • Instead of a photo, paste URL into your story.

  • In your caption, leave a space before and after the URL.

  • Be sure there is no line return in your story.

  • Don’t include a photo in this post.

  • Submit!

If you accidentally post for the wrong pet:

  • Repost for the correct pet (i.e., you do not have to wait for the mistake to be corrected).

  • Email customercare@adoptmeapp. org with a subject line like “I posted for the wrong pet”.

  • Specify which wrong pet – shelter name (YCAS) or ID (YOLOCA_03), animal name or A#.

  • CustomerCare will delete the incorrect post.
